Marpole Matters - Casa Mia House

1920 SW Marine Drive. Casa Mia, built by the Reifel family, is a premier example of the Spanish Colonial Revival style and is listed “A” on the Vancouver Heritage Register. The current owners want to conserve Casa Mia (the exterior and certain interior rooms would be designated) through infill development and change of use to Seniors Care Facility. The 22,000 sq ft house would be used for support functions and dining, and a new 38,000 sq ft addition (two storeys and a basement) would house up to 88 complex care beds. The permitted FSR for this RS-1 zoned site is 0.6 while the proposed FSR is 0.92.
